How much does a video cost? Prices and details

What actually sets the budget of a video production, what our 2021 packages looked like, and the questions to answer before asking for a quote.

“How much does a video cost?” is one of the most-searched questions in our field — and one of the hardest to answer in a single sentence. It is still worth trying, because an honest answer saves time for you and for us.

First observation: the question is vague. It doesn’t say whether the person wants the market price or the real cost of making such a production. And it can refer to very different kinds of video, from music videos to product films and brand films.

What kinds of productions we are talking about

So you know what the answer covers, these are the categories we work in, and the commercial job of each:

  • Commercials — they build awareness and sales in your existing audience, and they are a way of finding new audiences.
  • Product videos — they can make the difference between success and failure, convincing the audience to choose your products over the competition’s.
  • Brand films — they “humanise” brands and carry the organisation’s message and values efficiently.
  • Music videos — for artists at the start of the road, helping them get known and enter both YouTube and music television.

Why the answer is always “it depends”

The budget of a video production depends on a fairly small set of variables — each with a big effect:

The scale of the production. One shoot day with two people and a camera costs something different from three days with a full crew, actors and a rented location.

The technical costs. Camera and sound equipment, lights, stabilisation, drones. Every extra piece of gear is also an extra person operating it.

The people. Direction, script, camera operator, sound, edit, color, sound design. Most of a production estimate is people and time, not objects.

The delivery deadline. A project delivered in five days costs more than the same project delivered in three weeks, because urgency gets paid for in overtime.

The level of finish. The difference between a clean edit and a piece with effects, logo animation and dedicated audio design is mostly post-production time.

What our packages looked like in 2021

When this article was first published, we had three openly listed tiers. We keep them here as a historical reference, so the logic of the structure is visible — these are not today’s prices; for the current offer, see the services pages or write to us.

  • Video Basic, from €450 at the time — concept and storyline, video curation, edit, typographic animation, logo animation, simple transitions, audio curation. No shoot: the work runs on existing material.
  • Original video Standard, from €1,500 at the time — concept and script, shoot, edit, basic effects, typographic animation, logo animation, basic audio design.
  • Original video Pro, from €3,000 at the time — concept and script, shoot, edit, advanced effects, typographic animation, advanced logo animation, dedicated audio design.

What the structure shows, and what still holds: the big price step does not come from equipment — it comes the moment an original shoot enters. The second step comes from post-production.

Is it worth the investment?

Here we have to be honest. Nobody can guarantee you a profit from a video, and anyone who does should be treated with suspicion. What can be said is why video became the dominant format.

Video is easier to absorb than text or infographics, and it lets you compress the information: the essential message fits in a few dozen seconds. On top of that, almost every platform your audience is on distributes video preferentially today — which means the same promotion budget buys more exposure.

What to prepare before asking for a quote

To get a realistic price from the first conversation — not a range from €500 to €5,000 — it helps enormously if you already know:

  1. where the video will run and in what format (vertical, horizontal, both);
  2. how long it has to be, and whether you need short versions for ads;
  3. whether filmed material already exists or the work starts from zero;
  4. the real delivery deadline;
  5. what the viewer should do after watching it.

With those answers, “how much does a video cost” finally becomes a question that can be answered with a number.

From text to film

If you have a film to make, the conversation starts with what it should achieve — not with what we film.
